Malcolm Smith
Director of Integrated Urbanism, Arup UK
Malcolm Smith is an architect and the founding design director of the Integrated Urbanism unit at Arup, London. He joined Arup after completing his Masters degree in Architecture at Yale University, and working in Australia. Malcolm leads the design strategy on a wide range of urban design projects that have sustainable place making at their core. His recent work includes:

He is a design reviewer for the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and has been a visiting professor at Yale University, USA.
Malcolm is invited to lecture around the world on sustainable environments, including the Eco-Edge Conference, Melbourne and the City of Copenhagen. He was an invited advisor to Vice President Al Gore and the Gore Foundation in Nashville, USA, and was invited to speak at the inaugural Global Humanitarian Forum, Geneva, 2008. He has recently been appointed by the City of Amsterdam as Lead Design for the 2500ha Zuidas district.
Jerry Yudelson
Principal, Yudelson Associates USA
Jerry Yudelson is widely recognized as one of the leading green building experts in the United States.
Jerry leads the consulting practice at Yudelson Associates, advising large companies and institutions on sustainable practices and green building approaches. He holds engineering degrees from the California Institute of Technology and Harvard University, and a Masters of Business Administration with highest honors from the University of Oregon.
In 2006, the U.S. General Services Administration named him a "National Peer Professional." In addition, the International Council of Shopping Centers named Mr. Yudelson as the first Research Scholar for Retail Real Estate Sustainability for 2007-2009. In 2004, the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance named him the "Green Building Advocate" of the year.
Jerry Yudelson is the author of 11 often-cited green building books, including three in 2009: Green Building Trends Europe (Island Press); Greening Existing Buildings (McGraw-Hill) and Sustainable Retail Design: New Success Strategies (Springer). Earlier published works include: Green Building through Integrated Design, The Green Building Revolution, Green Building: A to Z, Marketing Green Building Services: Strategies for Success, Choosing Green: The Home Buyer's Guide to Good Green Homes, and Developing Green: Strategies for Success.
Christoph Ingenhoven
Principal and Founder, Ingenhoven Architects
Christoph Ingenhoven is the Principal and founder of architectural studio Ingenhoven Architects. The design of Christoph Ingenhoven emphasizes on sustainable and ecological principles in combination with a highly innovative, technical approach and a logical construction. The focus is mainly on office buildings, company head-quarters, high-rises, refurbishment, infrastructure and transportation projects, such as airports and railway stations, urban planning, landscape design and masterplanning.
The office won 30 first prizes in national and international competitions including for the RWE headquarters, one of the first ecological high-rises world-wide and for the Lufthansa Aviation Center in Frankfurt and received 52 awards as the RIBA Awards for the Burda Media Park and the Global Holcim Award Gold for the Main Station Stuttgart. Current work include high-rises in the center of Osaka and of Sydney, as well as a university campus in Dublin and the European Investment Bank in Luxemburg.
Elsa Monteiro
Head of Sustainability, Sonae Sierra
Elsa Monteiro is the Head of Sustainability for Sonae Sierra, an international shopping centre property company owned by Grosvenor and Sonae SGPS, with an international portfolio of 52 shopping centres and more than 10 developments under management. Sonae Sierra operates internationally including throughout Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece and Brazil. Elsa's responsibilities at Sonae Sierra are to support, coordinate and monitor the safety & health and environmental policies and to coordinate the Company's efforts in the development of its Corporate Responsibility. She leads implementation of its Environmental Policy within all the activities of the company.
Before joining Sonae Sierra in 1995, she was Chief of Cabinet of the Secretary of State of Local Administration and Urban Planning of the Portuguese Government. She started her professional career in the Studies and Planning Department of the Urban Planning Ministry in Portugal.
A Graduate in Geography, Elsa also has post graduations in Urban Planning, Business Management, Urban and Environmental Law. She also has post graduate qualifications in Corporate Social Responsibility from Harvard.
Elsa is member of the managing committee of the European Property Federation; member of the managing committee of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Portugal; liaison delegate of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and member of the Core Group of the WBCSD project Energy Efficiency in Buildings; and also member of the International Council of Shopping Centers' Sustainability Working Group.
